Ethanol and Food Corn
An idea came to mind recently, if the USA would "rent" or make territories of some of the unstable, but fertile countries in Africa, we could grow corn there. 50% for ethanol and 50% for food to feed the starving there. This would force the Arab nations to lower the cost of crude oil, lessening the dependence on foreign oil, extend the life of oil reserves and feed starving people. This would also allow the corn fields now used in the USA to be used for food not ethanol. It would also put people to work, farming, security, distribution, accounting. This also would help stabilize an unruly area of this world. I'd rather see our military protecting something beneficial to the USA than in Iraq or Afghanistan.
